Founded in 1863 amid the turmoil of the Civil War, the Union Club of Boston was created to preserve the Union and uphold loyalty to the Constitution. From its earliest days, the Club has been home to leaders in literature, law, science, and government, including Ralph Waldo Emerson, Charles Sumner, and future President Calvin Coolidge. Over 160 years later, it remains a place of fellowship, civic engagement, and enduring connection to Boston’s history and spirit.
